Te Whakamahara The Remembering Ruakākā It does not rise. It returns. Ancient, patient, knowing. The sun breaks through cloud and silence as it has since the beginning— when the land was still wild with birdsong and the sea spoke only to those who listened. It remembers. It remembers the kākā, their laughter stitched into the canopy, the flax harvested with care, the river mouth alive with stories. It remembers the footsteps of tūpuna pressed into sand now reshaped by progress, the chants that once welcomed the dawn now drowned beneath the hum of industry.
